PROJECT BLANKFACE

Sound-Based Horror Escape • Godot India Community Game Jam 5
(19-12-2025 to 27-12-2025)

Story

Year 2060. Deep inside a sealed research facility called The Upper Five, scientists tried to do something impossible — control the physical world using sound.

At first, it worked. Machines responded to frequencies. Doors opened without being touched. Entire systems could be controlled using vibration alone.

Their final experiment was called Project BlankFace. The creature wasn’t designed to think — it was designed to listen. A living receiver that would respond to specific sound patterns and commands.

During final testing, something went wrong. BlankFace didn’t just respond — it adapted. Containment failed. The facility went silent. Power systems shut down. The people working there disappeared.

You are the lone survivor of the disaster in the facility, with only a tunable horn — a prototype tool used during the experiments. By changing its sound, you can interact with the environment and influence whatever is still moving inside.

In this place, sound is the only way forward. And sometimes, staying quiet is the only way to survive.

Core Mechanics

This game is built around sound. Every sound you make matters.

The tunable horn is your main tool. Changing its pitch and frequency lets you activate machines, open paths, or affect the creature’s behavior. Using the wrong sound at the wrong time can make things worse.

BlankFace reacts differently depending on what it hears. Loud or sudden sounds can draw it toward you. Certain tones can slow it down or push it away. Silence can be just as dangerous.

Visual & Sound Design

(Headphones recommended)

Sound plays a huge role in immersion. Listen carefully to your surroundings — it might be the only thing keeping you alive.

Visually, the facility is cold and decayed. Flickering lights, abandoned hospital rooms, and industrial spaces hint at a place that was once active and is now completely broken.

Assets & Tools

The game was developed using Godot Engine 4.5.1. Blender was used for working with 3D assets, and Mixamo handled character animations. ElevenLabs and voice tools were used for audio processing. GitHub was used for version control during development.

Third-Party Assets Used

This project uses a number of third-party assets to meet the time constraints of the game jam. Full credit goes to the original creators listed below.

Several third-party assets were used to help complete the game within the jam timeframe. All assets are credited to their original creators.

Scope

Project BlankFace is a short experience meant to be completed in one sitting. There is no combat. The focus is on atmosphere, puzzle-solving, and learning how sound affects the world around you.

Downloadable Builds

Offline builds for Windows and Web are available above. If you experience performance or audio issues in the web version, we recommend using a downloadable build.
